About Angelina County United Way

United Way was formed in 1948 to be a united funding campaign for Angelina County for local agencies, which in turn would people in Angelina County. The mission of United Way of Angelina County is to be a leader in the community by uniting residents to improve the quality of life, to meet human needs, and help people become more self sufficient.

When you give to United Way, you are helping the very young to the elderly. You are assisting with health care, emergency assistance, fire relief, home delivered meals for the elderly, education, drug and alcohol abuse, neglect and abuse in families, day care, after school programs, and libraries. Whether you realize it or not, everyone is affected in a positive way from United Way agencies.

United Way has a local board that meets and sets the regulations for United Way.

A local budget committee meets and decides which agencies will receive funding from United Way and the amount they will receive. All agencies who receive funding are located in Angelina County. The federal United Way does not say who can or cannot receive funds.

All monies raised stay in Angelina County for Angelina County residents. Less than one cent of every dollar raised is used to pay United Way dues, this is not for any other agencies in other cities, it is simply for dues so we can use the United Way name.
